The Giro Venti bike helmet is crafted for riders who want the classic Giro fit in a larger-than-average size. Outfitted with a snap-fit visor, the Venti is made using Giro's in-mold construction, which fuses a tough polycarbonate outer shell with the helmet's impact-absorbing EPA foam liner. Not only does this fusion process reinforce both layers, but the "exoskeleton" also allows Giro to engineer helmets that are lighter, more durable, and better ventilated. The helmet also employs Giro's patented Acu Dial fit system, which hugs the back of your head and reduces the tendency of your helmet to shift forwards or backwards. With a single-handed adjustment of the full-fit band, you can create a perfect fit regardless of your head shape or hair length (the helmet is even ponytail-compatible).
To keep you cool on the road, the Venti comes with Giro's proprietary Wind Tunnel ventilation system, which combines 20 active vents with internal exhaust channels that thrust cool, fresh air over and around the rider's head while forcing heat and stale air out. The significant increase in air channeling makes a difference that riders will feel immediately.
The Venti is a Universal Fit single-size helmet. Giro's Universal Fit family of helmets is sculpted to look good and fit great for most people on the first try. By developing unique shell sizes based on select customer groups and combining them with an adjustable-fit system, Universal Fit helmets make it easier for you to find the right fit, right out of the box, right away.
About GiroWorking late nights in his garage, designer/bike racer Jim Gentes created the first lightweight adult cycling helmet in 1985. Friends at NASA helped him tune the final helmet shape and vent placement, resulting in the Giro Prolight, a helmet that was better looking and better fitting than traditional designs yet still met the industry's toughest safety standards. Plus, it was half the weight of traditional helmets. Since then, Giro has advanced its helmets, many of which have set the standards for styling, function, and innovation for progressive, performance-oriented riders on dirt, pavement, and snow. Giro helmets are worn by millions of riders, cyclists, skiers, and snowboarders around the world: young bloods and old-timers; hardcores, heshers, and hipsters; rookies, experts, and a few regular Joes too--in fact, pretty much anyone that appreciates superior fit and function, cutting edge styling, and the very best ideas you get in a helmet. Giro is based in Scotts Valley, California.

Customer Reviews

I enthusiastically give the Giro Venti five stars!
I had a wreck on Tuesday, 11 May 2010. I had only started wearing it the day before. It is the only one I could find big enough for my head. I bought it for a police bike school I started on the 10th. My employer was too cheap to buy it, so I did. On Tuesday morning, I was following some other officers down a hill doing over 30 miles per hour. There were two speed bumps. I made it over the first one, then wrecked on the second. I do not recall the wreck. I ended up in the hospital over a week for my head injuries, but they were not covered by the helmet. What was, my right temple and the base of my skull, were not injured at all. The doctors told me that I would be lucky to be alive if I hadn't had the helmet.
The reason I am glad I had it is because most helmets did not come down as far. I would have probably lost my right eye and had a good brain stem injury with a normal sized helmet. $40 seemed a little high when I paid it, but now I know that it could have cost me my life otherwise.
Something to think about if you have a big head.

I have been spoiled by my Bern Macon skate-style helmet. The Bern is a snug fit for my head, and gets a bit warm, but it is a heck of a lot more comfortable that this helmet.
This purchase was based on looking for a larger-sized helmet, something that would be a big cooler in the summer, and it has a visor.
I am disappointed by the measly strips of padding included in the helmet. The glue holding the velcro is barely there. The paltry four small stick-on button pads do little to help with comfort. I am counting on a Headsweats CoolMax Shorty Bike Headband, White to help a bit. I would also expect that a plus-sized helmet would have longer chin straps. The straps don't appear to be able to lay flat due to the angles in which they run.
It's my fault for having a large, apparently oddly-shaped, head and not trying the helmet in person before making the purchase. Given those that need the size don't have much choice, you'd think Giro/Bell would take the opportunity to give us something more, even if priced a little higher. Aside from the size, I fail to see the premium and $20 difference between this helmet and my daughter's helmet, which meets the same safety standard and has more padding. The largely positive reviews had set my expectations a bit high.
